Stuck With Green – “Stuck With Green”
By Xander Rich
It needs to be said that right off the bat, there’s no mistaking Stuck With Green for another band – creator Ron Potter makes sure of that. The self-titled album is a trip through experimental sounds that feature synthesizers, pulse-pounding bass beats, comedic verses and the entire thing is headed up by Potters unique vocal stylings that reminded me of the soft-spoken guy you went to high school with that never quite played well with others.
“Penguins in my Brain”, the first track on the album, is easy to remember for its catchy, chanting cadence if not solely for the title. “The Pimp Slap Song” has a chorus that I guarantee you’ll have a hard time getting out of your head for weeks(I’m humming it in my head as I’m writing this). Other notables on the album are “Dreams Have Deadlines” and “I Ain’t Your Superhero”.
Ultimately, the sound of Stuck With Green is not for everybody, but its sound is infectious, and if you like it, you’ll really like it. Ron Potter definitely has a deep imagination which is captured by his musical ability quite well. This album is sure to attract a cult following to those that listen to it.
